Kat Mansoor's film used Brighton beach and Brighton Pier shots from A Sussex Symphony.

Day trips became increasing popular in postwar Britain and this film shows Brighton beach with plenty of sunbathers, swimmers and fun in boats. There was entertainment at the Lido and on The Palace Pier, with the amusements, a live dance show, a Punch and Judy show and plenty of deckchairs.

Do you have memories of the beach or pier?
