Ken has been perming June's hair for over 60 years. He started doing it when she was 16 and came into his parents hair salon in Folkestone.

A few years later they married and after the war, they ran the salon together. Ken was a keen amateur documentary-maker and recorded a day in the life of the salon in colour super-8 in the seventies. He is now 86 and, although June protests at times, he still perms her hair every week. An unsentimental story of enduring love.

What a lovely tribute to a really nice couple, i was saddened to learn of their deaths in the paper. I worked in Woolworths for many years and they were regular customers always finding time to come in for a chat. I had spoken to them not long ago and they were telling me about the archives of the Leas Cliff Hall and the video they had made about it. They will be sorely missed

Two of the nicest people, one could possibly wish to meet. Thoughtful, generous, & will be very much missed; not only as local historians, but two very good friends, to a lot of people.

How lovely to see Ken and June I worked at Rosalie when Ken had his shop at Central Satation.and left to get married in 1966. Although I haven't really lived in Folkestone much since then I have always kept in touch with them. They will be sorely missed by everyone who knew them

A thoughtful and evocative view of lives devoted to serving the needs of others(mostly their own neighbours one imagines )-- and a life of being respectful to each other. Theirs was a world away from celebrity hairdressers. Thank you for being their working lives to us.
