Rosalie Hairstylists, 4 Bournemouth Road, Folkestone, Kent
Daisy Asquith's film 'Permanently Yours' is set in Rosalie's Hairstylists, a family business owned and run by the Stace Paines of Folkestone until 1988. From January 1968 'Rosalie' was based at 4 Bournemouth Road, where two Super 8 films 'Enough to Make Your Hair Curl' and 'Rosalie at 50' were made by Mr Paine, the salon owner.
In 1936, the family opened their first salon at 110 Sandgate Road (for gentlemen only), while the first ladies salon (the original 'Rosalie') was opened at 256 Cheriton Road in 1939. The two salons were amalgamated in 1941 when the Sandgate Road premises were closed, and in December 1945 the combined salons moved from 256 to 102 Cheriton Road (Central Station). A further and final move took place in January 1968 when 'Rosalie' relocated to 4 Bournemouth Road.
